BYD Fangchengbao Fangcheng S launches from 189,900 yuan, undercutting its own lineup

BYD's Fangchengbao brand launched the Fangcheng S liftback and shooting brake on a busy launch night, with a 189,900 yuan entry price, up to 900 km of CLTC range, standard LiDAR-based ADAS, and a new magnetorheological suspension option.

BYD's Fangchengbao brand took the spotlight on a night crowded with Chinese automaker launches, unveiling the Fangcheng S liftback and Fangcheng S GT shooting brake at a starting price of 189,900 yuan (about $26,700). The new model, revealed alongside releases from Li Auto, Leapmotor, Geely and others, is priced to undercut not just rivals but also BYD's own Han sedan and Seal 08, according to Chinese outlet D1EV.

The Fangcheng S comes in five trim levels across two body styles, with a choice of four battery ranges and rear- or all-wheel drive. The entry-level Yunian C rear-drive version packs a 76.7 kWh battery, while the other eight configurations all carry a 92 kWh pack. The base car offers a CLTC range of 730 km (a WLTP estimate of roughly 585-620 km), a 245 kW (328 hp) rear motor and a 5.8-second 0-100 km/h sprint, performance D1EV notes is comparable to a BMW 530Li.

Standard ADAS and new suspension

All versions come with BYD's God's Eye B DiPilot 300 driver assistance system, including a standard LiDAR, urban and highway NOA (city and highway advanced driver assistance) and full-scenario parking assist. BYD is also offering a one-year full-compensation promise for accidents involving the assisted driving system, a move D1EV says makes it the industry's most confident ADAS backer.

Beyond the base car, rear-drive trims upgrade to a 300 kW (402 hp) motor, while all-wheel-drive versions add a 190 kW front motor for a combined 666 hp (496 kW) and a 3.6-second 0-100 km/h time. The AWD models cost 20,000 yuan more than their rear-drive counterparts, a pricing structure D1EV calculates implies a 20,000 yuan cost for BYD's front motor.

Fangchengbao also introduced two suspension options at identical prices: the familiar Yunian A air suspension with CDC dampers for comfort, and the new Yunian M magnetorheological suspension, which the company says is the same type used on the Ferrari 296 GTB and can adjust damping in 1 millisecond for sharper handling.

Interior and charging push

Inside, the Fangcheng S features one-piece sports seats, a zero-gravity passenger seat, a 20-speaker Devialet audio system, a 26-inch AR-HUD and a 6.6L smart fridge. It also includes a DIVA smart dashboard display similar to Nio's Nomi, plus mounting points for accessories like action cameras and magnetic wireless chargers, a nod to younger buyers who customize their cabins.

At the launch, Fangchengbao general manager Xiong Tianbo said BYD has already built over 10,000 flash-charging stations in China and aims to reach 20,000 by year-end. That pace, D1EV notes, is roughly ten times the annual build rate of other major automakers, a push the outlet says could make charging as convenient as refueling and further erode the case for buying a petrol car.
