BYD Denza Z9S Launching Sept 23 with 1,100 km CLTC Range, Pre-sale from 319,800 Yuan

BYD's Denza Z9S, a large BEV sedan, is set to launch on September 23 with a pre-sale price range of 319,800 to 389,800 yuan (about $45,000 to $54,900). It offers up to 1,100 km CLTC range and a 2.68-second 0-100 km/h sprint.

BYD's premium Denza brand is set to launch the Z9S, a large all-electric sedan, on September 23, according to Chinese automotive outlet Autohome. The model, which has already started pre-sales, is offered in three configurations priced between 319,800 yuan and 389,800 yuan (about $45,000 to $54,900) as Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives.

The Z9S is a BEV (battery-electric) sedan measuring 5,090 mm long, 1,980 mm wide, and 1,490 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,025 mm. Buyers can choose between a rear-wheel-drive single-motor version producing 370 kW (about 503 hp) and a tri-motor all-wheel-drive variant with a combined output of 890 kW (about 1,210 hp). The top version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.68 seconds.

All versions are powered by a 102.326 kWh BYD second-generation Blade battery, offering CLTC ranges of 780 km, 920 km, and 1,100 km, depending on the configuration. The 1,100 km figure is notably high for a BEV sedan in this class. (For context, CLTC ratings are typically 15-20% more optimistic than WLTP, so the equivalent WLTP range would be roughly 880-935 km, est.) The battery also supports fast charging.

Handling and body

The Z9S comes standard with BYD's "Yi San Fang" (Easy Three-Way) rear-wheel steering system. The tri-motor version achieves a minimum turning radius of 4.75 meters, aided by rear wheels that can steer independently by up to 5 degrees. This enables features such as crab-walk mode, a "compass" turn, and a drift assist function. The car rides on YunNian-A, BYD's intelligent air suspension system.

The body is built to a five-star safety standard, using a steel-aluminum hybrid structure with high-strength steel and aluminum accounting for 91.1% of the mix. It features a ten-longitudinal and eleven-lateral beam layout, integrated with BYD's CTB (cell-to-body) technology and a hot-formed steel cage. The torsional rigidity is rated at 45,036 N·m/deg.

Exterior design highlights include split LED headlights, an active rear spoiler, blacked-out windows, and four wheel designs in 19-inch and 20-inch sizes. Seven exterior colors are available, including Dawn Purple, Fjord Green, and Midnight Blue. A roof-mounted lidar is standard across all trims.

Interior and smart driving

Inside, the Z9S offers three color schemes: Cloud Smoke Purple, Frost White, and Flame Red. The cabin features a wraparound layout with a harbor-style dashboard. A magnetic panel on the front passenger side can hold tablets, headphones, glasses cases, or photos. The rear center armrest includes a 7-inch control screen for adjusting climate, sunshades, music, seats, and ambient lighting. Total storage space amounts to 44 compartments, with a 470 L trunk (expandable) and a 120 L front trunk.

For driver assistance, the Z9S is equipped with BYD's "God's Eye B" system, which runs the latest "God's Eye 5.0" large model software. It supports urban and highway navigation assist, as well as automated parking in various scenarios.
