Buick's Zhijing EV brand hits 150,000th vehicle as E7 SUV passes 30,000 units

Buick's premium EV brand Zhijing has rolled out its 150,000th vehicle in China, with the E7 SUV alone surpassing 30,000 units. The brand, launched in April 2025, now covers sedans, SUVs and MPVs across BEV, PHEV and EREV powertrains, and claims the top spot among joint-venture new-energy brands by sales and penetration.

Buick's premium new-energy sub-brand Zhijing has marked a major production milestone, with the 150,000th vehicle rolling off the line at an event in Shanghai on September 16, according to Chinese media outlet Sina Auto. The milestone vehicle was the Zhijing E7, which simultaneously celebrated its own 30,000th unit produced.

The achievements signal that Zhijing, launched in April 2025, has moved into a phase of scaled growth just 16 months after its debut. The brand has expanded from a single model to a lineup spanning sedans, SUVs and MPVs, and now covers all three main electrified powertrains: BEV (battery-electric), PHEV (plug-in hybrid) and EREV (range-extender).

Sales and pricing traction

Zhijing claims to have led all joint-venture new-energy brands in sales volume and new-energy penetration for several consecutive months. Its average transaction price reached 257,000 yuan (about $36,200), a sign that the brand is balancing volume growth with premium positioning. In August 2026, new-energy models accounted for 50% of Buick's top-ten selling models, with Zhijing as the core driver.

The E7, a plug-in hybrid mid-size SUV, has held the top spot among joint-venture new-energy models priced above 150,000 yuan for four straight months, and is also the best-selling joint-venture new-energy model launched in 2026. The Zhijing Shijia MPV won the sales crown for luxury new-energy MPVs priced above 400,000 yuan in the first half of 2026, while the L7 has attracted younger buyers.

Buyers are opting for higher trims: 86.68% chose mid-to-high-spec versions, and 70.55% considered the brand's "Five Heng" health cabin a must-have feature. According to Sina Auto, 63.35% of customers cited cabin comfort and health as their primary reason for purchase. Over 85% of Zhijing owners use the health cabin feature on every trip, with cumulative usage of nearly 54,000 hours.

Promotional push

To mark the milestone, Buick has launched a "Golden September" sales campaign running until September 30, offering limited-time purchase benefits across both electric and petrol models. The company says customers can share in 15 billion yuan (about $2.1 billion) in total purchase subsidies.

For the Zhijing E7 and L7, a 1,000 yuan deposit counts as 6,000 yuan toward the purchase price, plus up to 7,000 yuan in trade-in subsidies and a free compulsory traffic insurance policy. The Zhijing Shijia offers a 5,000 yuan deposit counting as 30,000 yuan, while the Buick GL8 Lushan offers 5,000 yuan counting as 50,000 yuan, with both eligible for an additional 10,000 yuan trade-in benefit. After stacking benefits, the Zhijing L7 and E7 start at 149,900 yuan (about $21,100), the Shijia at 384,900 yuan (about $54,200), and the GL8 Lushan at 284,900 yuan (about $40,100). These are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives.

Petrol models such as the Buick LaCrosse and Envision Plus also receive limited-time offers, including a 1,000 yuan deposit counting as 10,000 yuan and a 10,000 yuan trade-in subsidy.
