Buick has introduced a limited-edition Black Gold version of its Century luxury MPV in China, according to NetEase Auto. Only 50 units will be built, with the four-seat variant priced at 709,900 yuan (about $100,000) and the seven-seat variant at 549,900 yuan (about $77,400). These are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives. The four-seat model is limited to 10 units, while the seven-seat accounts for the remaining 40.
The Black Gold edition features a two-tone paint scheme called "Liyao Jinqiong" (roughly, "Ritual Light Golden Dome"), combining deep black with gold accents. The four-seat interior uses an amber-white theme, while the seven-seat gets a dark red-black finish. Buick says the design draws inspiration from the image of sunlight hitting a snow-capped mountain at dawn, with gold detailing applied to door handles and wheels by hand.
Limited-edition perks and pricing
Buyers receive a set of exclusive benefits, including a fragrance set from the Aman Yangyun resort brand, a 15,000-yuan trade-in subsidy, and a financing plan with 50% down payment and a 2.99% interest rate over 12 months. The four-seat version includes 1,000GB of free 5G Wi-Fi data over five years for its smart screen, while the seven-seat offers 720GB over three years. These offers apply to vehicles invoiced by September 30, 2026.
An optional "Jinshi Zhiyue" plan, priced at 4,999 yuan, lets non-commercial buyers get a free replacement vehicle if a single accident causes damage equal to 30% or more of the purchase price within three years.
Luxury features and safety
The four-seat Black Gold edition comes with a full partition and a 32-inch retractable smart screen that can switch between private and transparent modes. Seats are upholstered in Fine Nappa semi-aniline leather and offer massage, heating, and ventilation functions. The audio system is a Bose Executive Edition with rear-seat priority, a first for the brand.
The seven-seat version features a 1.8-meter electric shared slide rail for the second and third rows, allowing flexible seating arrangements. Both versions include a "seven-in-one one-touch seat linkage" mode. The cabin uses materials certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100's highest level for infant safety, and the body has received five-star safety ratings from both C-NCAP and the China Insurance Research Institute.
Buick has been selling MPVs in China for 27 years, and the Century is its flagship model in the segment. The Black Gold edition is part of a strategy to cater to high-end buyers seeking exclusivity and traditional Chinese aesthetics.
