Audi has rolled out the first over-the-air (OTA) update for its E7X electric sedan, introducing AUDI OS 2.1.4 with enhancements across parking assistance, voice control, driving dynamics and comfort, according to Chinese outlet PCauto. The update is delivered through the car's infotainment system or the SAIC Audi app.
Key improvements in the update
The upgraded phone-based car-finding feature now offers two modes - flashing lights, and flashing lights with horn - with selectable durations of 5, 10 or 15 seconds, making it easier to locate the car in underground garages or at night. Voice interaction gains VAD-based intelligent sentence segmentation, which recognises pauses in speech to determine command endpoints, covering navigation, media and vehicle controls. The system also adds more natural, emotion-aware pronunciation that adapts to different scenarios.
For models equipped with air suspension, the update refines the automatic height adjustment logic in Eco and Super Eco modes, preventing the car from raising too quickly during brief high-speed deceleration, which would increase drag. The system now allows the vehicle to lower into a low stance more readily at highway speeds, improving aerodynamic efficiency and range.
Driving assistance features get a voice control path for adjusting the volume of assistance prompts, and the menu is reorganised into four categories: driving assistance, active safety, parking assistance and enhanced alerts. In the cabin, a new zero-gravity seat recline adjustment is added for the four-seat rear and five-seat front passenger configurations, along with an optimised warning strategy for large recline angles.
Safety and convenience features
High-spec E7X models receive exterior lighting animations that activate when a door is opened and a fast-approaching vehicle or pedestrian is detected on the same side, helping to prevent 'dooring' accidents. The update also adds suspension-lift light effects and refines the key-based welcome path. Twelve new Audi assistant animations appear in scenarios such as first entry after the update, arriving at a navigation destination, switching music and activating seat massage.
The E7X, a battery-electric (BEV) model, is positioned as a luxury offering from SAIC Audi. The company is running a limited-time promotion that includes a 20,000 yuan (about $2,800) lifetime warranty for new and existing owners, 2,500 yuan (about $350) of free entertainment data, up to 12,000 yuan (about $1,690) in trade-in subsidies, and a 2,000 yuan (about $280) companion gift. The effective price of the E7X has entered the 250,000 yuan (about $35,200) bracket, according to PCauto.
The update reflects a broader push by Audi in China to strengthen software and digital experiences for its electric lineup, as competition in the premium BEV segment intensifies.
