Arcfox Alpha T7 launches in China from 132,800 yuan with Huawei ADS 5 Pro

Arcfox has launched the Alpha T7, a five-seat SUV with BEV and EREV versions, starting at 132,800 yuan (about $18,700) after subsidies. It features Huawei's ADS 5 Pro driver assistance and CATL batteries.

Arcfox, the electric-vehicle brand backed by BAIC, has launched the Alpha T7, a five-seat SUV offered in both battery-electric (BEV) and range-extender (EREV) versions. The starting price after subsidies is 132,800 yuan (about $18,700), rising to 168,800 yuan (about $23,800) for the top trim. These are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives, according to the outlet D1EV.

The Alpha T7 is positioned as a 'smart and beautiful' crossover that blends the looks of a fastback with the space of an SUV. It is the result of collaboration with Huawei, CATL, Magna, and Alibaba's Qwen AI, among others. Arcfox says the car has already received more than 60,000 orders during its 21-day pre-sale period.

Battery and range

The BEV version comes with an 84.8 kWh battery supplied by CATL, developed jointly with Arcfox. It offers a CLTC range of up to 715 kilometres (444 miles). For reference, that would translate to roughly 570-610 km (354-379 miles) under the more conservative WLTP cycle (est.). The car supports 800V fast charging, adding 370 km (230 miles) in 15 minutes.

The EREV version has a CLTC electric-only range of 320 km (199 miles) and a combined range of 1,315 km (817 miles) with the petrol engine acting as a generator. Fuel consumption when the battery is depleted is listed at 5.58 litres per 100 km.

Huawei ADAS and cabin

Arcfox says the Alpha T7 is equipped with Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5 Pro, a driver assistance system that covers highway, urban, and parking scenarios. The system uses 27 sensors and includes a forward automatic emergency braking function that can stop the car from speeds up to 130 km/h (81 mph). Arcfox claims the system can handle complex urban situations such as roundabouts at night and roadworks without driver intervention.

Inside, the car features a 1.1-metre-wide panoramic display, a 17.3-inch central touchscreen, and a 21-speaker audio system tuned with the National Centre for the Performing Arts. The cabin includes a 4D seat vibration system and a 8.2-litre heated and cooled storage box. Voice control is powered by Alibaba's Qwen and ByteDance's Doubao AI assistants, and the car can recognise different users by voiceprint.

The Alpha T7 also offers a 200-litre front trunk, which Arcfox says is the largest in its class, and a 645-litre rear boot that expands to 1,845 litres with the rear seats folded. The car is 5,020 mm long with a 3,040 mm wheelbase.

Arcfox has a history of working closely with Huawei, being among the first brands to mass-produce advanced driver assistance and one of the first to receive official plates for L3 testing in China. The Alpha T7 is available in seven exterior colours and three interior options.
