Arcfox, the electric-vehicle brand backed by BAIC, has launched the Alpha T7, a five-seat SUV available in both battery-electric (BEV) and range-extender (EREV) versions. The model, which went on sale in China on September 16, is priced from 132,800 yuan (about $18,700) to 168,800 yuan (about $23,800) after subsidies, according to Chinese outlet D1EV.
The Alpha T7 is positioned as a 'smart and beautiful' large SUV that aims to combine stylish design with spacious practicality. It is the first model to feature Huawei's Qiankun ADS 5 Pro advanced driver assistance system in the 150,000-yuan price segment, bringing premium ADAS features to a more affordable market tier.
Battery and range
All versions come with batteries co-developed with CATL, which Arcfox says offer near-zero degradation and no risk of thermal runaway. The BEV variant offers a maximum CLTC range of 715 kilometres (about 444 miles) from an 84.8 kWh pack, with an estimated WLTP range of around 600 km (373 miles). The vehicle supports 800-volt fast charging, adding 370 km (230 miles) of range in 15 minutes, and is compatible with all national standard charging piles.
The EREV version provides a CLTC pure-electric range of 320 km (199 miles), sufficient for about a week of commuting, and a combined range of 1,315 km (817 miles). Its fuel consumption when the battery is depleted is 5.58 litres per 100 km.
Smart driving and cabin
The Huawei ADS 5 Pro system covers highway, urban, and parking scenarios, with highway NCA (navigation cruise assist) requiring almost no driver intervention over an average of 1,500 km (932 miles). It can handle complex urban situations such as nighttime roundabouts and mixed traffic, and the parking assist works in more than one million parking lots across China. The vehicle is equipped with 27 sensors and Huawei's CAS 5.0 collision avoidance system, with automatic emergency braking effective at speeds up to 130 km/h (81 mph).
Inside, the Alpha T7 features a 1.1-metre-wide panoramic display, a 17.3-inch central touchscreen, and a 21-speaker sound system tuned with the National Centre for the Performing Arts. The cabin includes dual AI assistants based on Alibaba's Qwen and ByteDance's Doubao, supporting voice control for navigation, parking fees, and even ordering drinks. The vehicle also offers a 200-litre front trunk and a 645-litre rear cargo area, expandable to 1,845 litres with the rear seats folded.
The Alpha T7 rides on a chassis tuned by Magna, with continuously adjustable CDC dampers and an AI-controlled suspension that adapts to road conditions. Arcfox says the model has received more than 60,000 orders during its 21-day pre-sale period. The company also announced a custom cabin theme based on the Chinese animation 'Xian Ni', which will be delivered via over-the-air updates.
