Aito to explore new cooperation model under Harmony Intelligent Mobility, Seres and Huawei to continue partnership

Aito announced it will explore a new cooperation model under the Harmony Intelligent Mobility framework, with Seres leading product definition, design, branding, sales and services while Huawei provides enabling support. Existing user benefits and services remain unchanged.

Aito, the premium electric vehicle brand jointly developed by Huawei and Seres, announced on September 15 that it will explore a new cooperation model under the Harmony Intelligent Mobility framework. The brand said all existing user benefits and after-sales services will remain unaffected, according to Chinese automotive outlet First Electric (D1EV).

Under the new arrangement, Seres will take the lead in product definition, product design, brand marketing, channel retail and service systems, while Huawei Terminal will participate in an enabling capacity. Aito emphasized that it remains a core member of the Harmony Intelligent Mobility family and that the brand will continue to operate with dedicated exclusive stores.

Partnership evolution

Aito was jointly designed and built by Huawei and Seres, representing a cross-industry collaboration that has been a key result of the two companies' integration efforts. The brand thanked consumers for their trust and support, noting that the new model is part of ongoing exploration within the Harmony Intelligent Mobility framework.

The announcement underscores the evolving nature of Huawei's automotive partnerships. While Huawei has increasingly positioned itself as a technology supplier through its Harmony Intelligent Mobility ecosystem, Aito has been one of its most prominent co-developed brands. The shift gives Seres greater operational control while retaining Huawei's technological and brand involvement.

Seres and Huawei said they will continue to work closely together, aiming to deliver high-end intelligent electric vehicles and a comprehensive ownership experience throughout the vehicle's lifecycle. The companies did not provide further details on how the new cooperation model will affect future models or sales operations.

Market context

The move comes as China's EV market grows increasingly competitive, with multiple brands vying for leadership in intelligent driving and smart cabin features. Huawei's involvement in the auto sector has expanded beyond Aito to include partnerships with other automakers through its Harmony Intelligent Mobility platform, which offers components and software solutions.

For Seres, taking a more dominant role in Aito's operations could help streamline decision-making and strengthen its own brand identity, while still leveraging Huawei's expertise in areas such as connectivity and driver assistance. The announcement did not specify any changes to current product plans or delivery timelines.

Aito's statement emphasized that the brand's exclusive retail approach will continue, ensuring that customers receive consistent service and support. The company also reiterated its gratitude to consumers, signaling a focus on maintaining trust during the transition.
