GAC's Aion brand has launched the 2027 i60 in China, offering both battery-electric and range-extender versions across seven trims. The BEV models start at 103,600 yuan (about $14,600) during the launch period, with the range-extender (EREV, a plug-in hybrid that uses a petrol engine solely to charge the battery) versions priced from 124,800 yuan (about $17,600). All prices are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives, according to NetEase Auto.
Powertrain upgrades
The 2027 i60's headline change is under the skin. The BEV version swaps in an amorphous alloy electric motor that GAC claims reaches 99% efficiency, helping cut energy consumption to 12.3 kWh per 100 km. The 520 km version uses a CATL-supplied battery pack, while the 700 km variant gets a 77.65 kWh battery, up from the previous 650 km range. In CLTC terms, the 700 km figure translates to roughly 560-595 km under the more realistic WLTP cycle (est.).
The EREV version adopts Huawei's DriveONE electric motor and a 45.368 kWh battery, boosting pure-electric range from 210 km to 350 km (CLTC, about 280-298 km WLTP est.). Combined range jumps from 1,240 km to 1,738 km, with fuel consumption of 3.6 L/100 km when the battery is depleted. Charging from 30% to 80% takes 13.7 minutes, GAC says.
More tech and comfort
Inside, the i60 gains a 15.6-inch 2.5K central touchscreen running Aion's ADiGO SPACE 6.0 system, which now integrates DeepSeek's cloud AI model. A lidar-equipped version adds GAC's GSD driver-assistance system, featuring a 192-line lidar, a Qualcomm 8650 chip with 200 TOPS of computing power, and 27 sensors. The system uses an end-to-end algorithm co-developed with WeRide, designed for highways, urban roads, and rural routes, and includes memory parking for tight spots.
Comfort upgrades include ventilated, heated, and massaging front seats on higher trims, a rear seatback that reclines up to 137 degrees, and a 66-liter front trunk on BEV models. The boot holds 416 liters, expanding to 967 liters with seats folded. A 12-meter projection feature and 11-speaker audio system are available for parking-lot entertainment.
The 2027 i60 targets family buyers with longer range, lower energy consumption, and improved parking convenience. With both BEV and EREV options, Aion aims to cover different charging habits and driving needs.
