Onesoft L80 NOP+ Passes 16 of 20 Tough Urban Scenarios in Autohome Test

Autohome's rush-hour test of the Onesoft L80's NOP+ driver assistance system found it passed 16 of 20 challenging scenarios, with strengths in unprotected left turns and roundabouts, but weaknesses in narrow roads and garage exits.

Autohome recently put the Onesoft L80 through a 50-kilometer (31-mile) evening rush-hour test in Beijing, evaluating its NOP+ navigation-assisted driving system across 20 demanding scenarios. The L80, a large five-seat SUV with a wheelbase over 3.1 meters, is positioned as a family-oriented model in Onesoft's lineup, sharing technology with the flagship L90. The mid- and high-spec versions come with NOP+ as standard, including a five-year free subscription.

The system runs on Nio's self-developed Shenji NX9031 autonomous driving chip and uses Nio's World Model (NWM) software stack. According to Autohome, more than 700,000 Nio and Onesoft users received the latest over-the-air update before the test, which was designed to improve performance on new and older platforms.

Strong in urban intersections, weak in tight spaces

The L80 passed 16 of the 20 scenarios. It handled unprotected left turns, multi-choice left turns, roundabouts, and complex ramps with quick decision-making and good coverage. However, Autohome noted that stability still needs work: in some complex negotiation situations, the system made aggressive decisions and occasionally changed strategy mid-maneuver. Narrow-road driving was inconsistent, and braking was not always smooth, affecting ride comfort.

One of the most notable failures came in the first scenario: exiting a parking garage. The L80 struggled to steer out of a parking space, requiring a reverse adjustment, and then at a three-way meeting inside the garage, it attempted to push forward aggressively, nearly colliding with an oncoming vehicle. The driver had to intervene, and the scenario was marked as failed.

In contrast, the L80 excelled at unprotected left turns. At a light with sparse oncoming traffic, it waited for a gap and turned promptly. At a busier intersection, it nudged forward to probe gaps without rushing, eventually completing the turn after the oncoming signal turned red. Autohome praised its efficiency and judgment.

Flexible routing and signal recognition

The L80 also impressed in a side-road entry scenario. Although the navigation planned to use a second entrance, the system spotted an earlier, easier-to-navigate opening and adjusted its route accordingly. It smoothly avoided parked cars and cyclists, and accurately detected a hidden traffic light, stopping at the line and proceeding on green.

In a campus (industrial park) scenario, the L80 navigated through a gate with a barrier, handled a car that was parallel parking ahead, and avoided pedestrians with cautious detours. It passed without intervention, though Autohome noted it could have reversed to give more space to the parking car.

The final highlighted scenario involved a left-turn waiting zone. The L80 correctly identified the zone and entered it at the right time, even showing predictive behavior by preparing to start just before the light turned green. Autohome called this a pass with high efficiency.

Autohome emphasized that the test results are based on real road conditions and may vary; drivers must remain attentive and ready to take over. The L80's performance shows progress in urban assisted driving, but the system still has room to improve in complex, tight spaces.
