Chinese electric vehicle maker Nio has announced that its NIO IN 2026 Innovation and Technology Day will take place on November 25 in Guangzhou, with a strong focus on artificial intelligence. According to PCauto, the event will showcase the company's latest AI-powered smart cockpit and assisted driving products, alongside its thinking on building an AI-native organization.
AI at the core
Unlike previous editions that emphasized product features, this year's event will place organizational AI transformation on the agenda, signaling that Nio's AI strategy has expanded from technology development to internal management processes. The company is expected to share its practices in fostering an AI-first culture and introduce new products driven by AI technology.
Nio has used its annual tech day as a platform to reveal key technological milestones. In 2023, it presented its full-stack technology layout, including the self-developed LiDAR control chip 'Yang Jian' and the NIO Phone. Last year, it launched SkyOS, the industry's first vehicle-wide operating system designed for AI, the 5nm Shenji NX9031 autonomous driving chip, and the Nio World Model (NWM), laying the groundwork for its intelligent technology stack.
Industry shift to intelligence
The Chinese new energy vehicle market is increasingly competing on intelligent experience rather than hardware specifications, with AI becoming a key driver for improving cockpit interaction and assisted driving capabilities. Major automakers are ramping up investment in this area, and Nio's focus on AI aligns with the industry's technological direction.
According to PCauto, the event will be held in Guangzhou, a city that has become a hub for automotive innovation in southern China. Nio has not yet disclosed specific product details, but expectations are high for the new smart cabin and assisted driving features that will be unveiled.
