GWM's Wey Gaoshan 8 HEV launches from 259,800 yuan with standard lidar ADAS

GWM's Wey brand launched the Gaoshan 8 HEV, a large MPV with a 2.0T hybrid and standard lidar-based driver assistance, priced from 259,800 yuan during a limited-time offer.

Great Wall Motor's premium Wey brand has launched the Gaoshan 8 HEV, a large MPV that pairs a 2.0-litre turbo hybrid powertrain with standard lidar-based driver assistance. The model is offered in two trims, with a limited-time price range of 259,800 to 279,800 yuan (about $36,600 to $39,400), according to NetEase Auto. The official retail prices are 265,800 to 285,800 yuan (about $37,400 to $40,300).

The Gaoshan 8 HEV is a hybrid without a plug, using a 2.0T engine and dual electric motors in a Hi4 all-wheel-drive setup. The system produces a combined 322 kW (about 432 hp) and 782 Nm of torque, enough for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.9 seconds. It runs on a small 3.64 kWh ternary lithium battery that does not require external charging, with a WLTC combined fuel consumption of 6.92 L/100km. Top speed is 190 km/h.

Measuring 5,280 mm long, 1,960 mm wide and 1,900 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,145 mm, the Gaoshan 8 HEV is a full-size MPV. The cabin features a flat floor with long sliding rails shared by the second and third rows, allowing flexible seat positions. The dashboard houses dual 15.6-inch 2.5K screens, with an optional 17.3-inch 3K entertainment display for the rear. The infotainment runs on a Qualcomm 8295P chip with Coffee OS 3.5 software. A 12.5-litre smart fridge and a 23-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system are also included.

Standard lidar and advanced driver assistance

A key selling point is the standard Coffee Pilot 3 system, which uses 27 sensors including a 192-line lidar and an Orin-Y chip delivering 200 TOPS of computing power. The system supports end-to-end assisted driving from parking space to parking space, including underground garage exits, highway ramps and automatic parking. It also offers 3 km memory parking, 100 m reverse tracking and remote parking.

The two trims differ mainly in rear-seat comfort. The entry-level Comfort version has second-row seats with movable armrests, while the Premium version adds zero-gravity seats with 12-point massage and 3D heating, plus heating and ventilation for the third row. Third-row seatbacks fold in a 4/6 split, and boot volume ranges from 435 to 1,901 litres. A bed mode is available, and the windows come with factory privacy glass.

The Gaoshan 8 HEV targets families with limited charging access who still want a traditional blue-plate (non-electric) vehicle with four-wheel drive and advanced driver assistance. Buyers can get limited-time benefits including purchase tax subsidies, free lifetime use of highway and city NOA (navigate on autopilot) functions, and a free rear entertainment screen for the Comfort trim. The battery and electric drive system carry a lifetime warranty, while the whole vehicle is covered for 6 years or 150,000 km.
