Geely has launched the 2027 Boyue compact SUV in China, bringing a redesigned exterior, a new electronic architecture and a smarter cabin to the long-running fuel model. The car is offered in four trims priced between 85,900 and 106,900 yuan (about $12,100-$15,100), with a limited-time promotional price of 78,900-99,900 yuan ($11,100-$14,100). These are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives, according to NetEase Auto.
The Boyue, which has sold more than 2.47 million units over a decade in China, now adopts what Geely calls a "new Chinese lifestyle aesthetics" design language. The front grille, named "four waters returning to the hall," echoes the inward-sloping eaves of traditional Chinese architecture, while the full-width headlights are dubbed "flying eaves and bucket arches" and the rear light bar "long scroll of flowing clouds." The car also features a 186-metre-wide LED headlight beam, which the company says can illuminate two football pitches and lasts over 100,000 hours.
Dimensions have grown slightly, with the 2027 Boyue measuring 4,570 mm long, 1,865 mm wide and 1,635 mm tall, with a 2,707 mm wheelbase - 21 mm longer than before. Four new colour options are available: cloisonné blue, galaxy silver, jade porcelain white and ink grey, with galaxy silver as the flagship shade.
Cabin and tech upgrades
Inside, the cabin follows the same oriental aesthetic, with a 14.6-inch central touchscreen running Flyme Auto 2.5 software. The system is powered by Geely's Xingrui AI large model, covering 95% of vehicle control functions with voice commands that support emotion recognition and multi-instruction processing. Navigation uses a custom version of Amap 850, with real-time traffic light countdowns and cross-traffic warnings. Connectivity includes Flyme Link, Huawei HiCar and Carlink, plus access to more than 200 apps.
Comfort features include heated, ventilated and massaging front seats, a 50W wireless charger and a heated steering wheel. For active safety, the car packs five megapixel cameras, two millimetre-wave radars and three ultrasonic sensors, enabling 16 functions including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping and lane change assist. Dedicated warnings cover door-opening, lane-change, rear-collision and reversing cross-traffic scenarios.
The Boyue claims a class-leading 85.4% interior space efficiency, with a 585-litre boot and a 75-litre hidden underfloor compartment. Folding the rear seats extends the load length to 1,930 mm, creating a roughly 1.9-metre flat space. The cabin offers 37 storage areas, also said to be the most in its class.
Powertrain and architecture
Power comes from the familiar 1.5TD turbocharged engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, producing combined fuel consumption of 6.64 litres per 100 km on the WLTC cycle and a 0-100 km/h time of 7.9 seconds. The car runs on 92-octane petrol.
The bigger change is the switch to Geely's new GEEA3.0 electronic architecture, which reduces the number of controllers from 14 to two, an integration improvement of 86%. Geely says virtual tuning technology, claimed to be unique in China, was used to simulate more than one million kilometres of testing across all road and climate conditions, improving suspension filtering by 11%, shift smoothness by 5%, handling stability by 6% and durability by 7%.
The 2027 Boyue shows Geely's strategy of bringing the cabin experience, safety standards and intelligent features already proven in its new-energy vehicles to a petrol model. With the sub-100,000-yuan fuel SUV segment still seeing real demand, the company is betting that buyers no longer have to sacrifice smart features, design or safety when choosing a conventional car. The Boyue's existing base of 2.47 million owners, with a new family choosing the model every 2.3 minutes, underpins its market outlook, NetEase Auto noted.
