Chery's Luxeed V9 overseas version surfaces with Falcon ADAS, new design

Spy shots of the overseas Luxeed V9 reveal a redesigned front end and Chery's in-house Falcon driver assistance, with exports planned for the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Europe.

Spy photos of the overseas version of the Luxeed V9 have surfaced online, showing a redesigned exterior and the adoption of Chery's self-developed Falcon driver assistance system. The images, published by NetEase Auto on October 22, indicate that the model, possibly named "LLounge" based on license plate details, is part of Chery's broader push to sell vehicles abroad.

Design and technology changes

Compared to the domestic Chinese version, the overseas Luxeed V9 features a larger front grille with vertical slats and new headlight units. The rear retains the through-type taillight bar and roof spoiler, but the roof-mounted lidar remains, now paired with the Falcon system instead of the previous solution. Inside, the cabin adopts Chery's Lingxi smart cockpit, featuring a full digital instrument cluster, a floating central touchscreen, a two-spoke steering wheel, and a head-up display. This contrasts with the triple-screen setup found in the Chinese model. A large rear entertainment screen is also included.

According to NetEase Auto, the overseas V9 is being developed by Chery's research institute and will use Chery's own electronic and electrical architecture. The company has reportedly set up a "Blue Ocean" project team to coordinate overseas launches, with the first phase targeting the Middle East, followed by Southeast Asia and then Europe.

Export strategy

Chery, which already sells vehicles under brands like Chery and Jaecoo in various markets, is expanding its footprint with the Luxeed brand, a joint venture with Huawei. The Luxeed V9 is a large electric SUV, and its overseas version is expected to offer both battery-electric (BEV) and range-extender (EREV) powertrains, though specific details have not been released. The move aligns with Chery's strategy to increase overseas sales, which accounted for a significant portion of its total deliveries in recent years.

The overseas version's new front-end design and Falcon ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suggest a tailored approach for international buyers, who may have different preferences and regulatory requirements. The Falcon system is Chery's in-house developed autonomous driving suite, which includes features like highway and urban navigation assistance.

While no launch date or pricing has been announced, the phased rollout indicates a methodical approach. The Middle East launch could come as early as next year, with Southeast Asia and Europe following. This mirrors the strategies of other Chinese automakers like BYD and Nio, which are also expanding into these regions.
