Chery launches Fulwin A9 EREV from 116,900 yuan, adding long-range option to popular sedan

Chery's Fulwin A9 range-extender (EREV) version launched on October 26, priced from 116,900 yuan (about $16,500) after a limited-time trade-in offer. The new variant offers a 230 km CLTC electric range, expanding the model's appeal in the 100,000-150,000 yuan segment.

Chery has expanded its Fulwin A9 lineup with a range-extender (EREV) version, launched on October 26, according to NetEase Auto. The new model is available in two trims, with a guide price of 119,900 to 129,900 yuan (about $16,900 to $18,300). A limited-time trade-in offer brings the price down to 116,900 to 126,900 yuan (about $16,500 to $17,900). These are Chinese guide prices before taxes and incentives.

The Fulwin A9 EREV is positioned in the 100,000-150,000 yuan segment, where the pure-electric version has already made an impact. The BEV (battery-electric) model topped sales in its category in its first month and delivered over 7,000 units in September, with cumulative orders exceeding 20,000, according to the report. The new EREV (range-extender) variant aims to broaden the model's appeal by addressing range anxiety.

Range and charging

The EREV version is equipped with Chery's self-developed "golden range-extender system," offering a pure-electric range of 230 km under CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) conditions. That translates to roughly 184-195 km under WLTP (est.), as CLTC is about 15-20% more optimistic. Fast charging can bring the battery from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes, and a 60-litre fuel tank supports long-distance travel. The car also features a 6.6 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) function for powering external devices.

The powertrain delivers a peak output of 185 kW (about 248 hp) and 280 Nm of torque, paired with a DP-EPS electric power steering system and 70 mm control arm bushings for improved ride comfort.

Design and tech

The Fulwin A9 EREV retains the sleek coupe-like silhouette of the pure-electric version, measuring 4,890 mm long with a 2,900 mm wheelbase. It features active grille shutters, a laser radar on the roof, and a choice of seven exterior colors inspired by Chinese cultural landmarks. Inside, the cabin is wrapped in 8.68 square meters of suede-like material, with two interior color schemes.

The car runs Chery's Lingxi cockpit 2.0, featuring a 15.6-inch 2.5K display powered by a 3nm chip. A 23-speaker, 1,080W audio system supports in-car karaoke. The laser radar trim includes the Falcon advanced driver assistance system, offering both city and highway NOA (navigation on autopilot) with 128 TOPS of computing power, enabling automated lane changes, traffic jam assistance, and automatic parking.

With both pure-electric and EREV options, the Fulwin A9 now covers a wider range of use cases, from daily commuting to long road trips, according to NetEase Auto. The model is positioned as a value-for-money choice for younger buyers in the 100,000-130,000 yuan bracket.
