Bigscreen, a maker of PC virtual reality headsets, has announced a permanent price cut for its Beyond 2 series, lowering the starting price of the base model from $1,019 to $959 (about 6,853 yuan to 6,450 yuan at current exchange rates). The Beyond 2e, which includes built-in eye tracking, drops from $1,219 to $1,159 (about 8,198 yuan to 7,795 yuan). The move comes as the company also said it has resumed production of the long-delayed Halo Mount head strap, according to IT之家.
Halo Mount returns after redesign
The Halo Mount, designed to redistribute the weight of the Beyond 2 headset for improved comfort, was initially redesigned late last year after poor feedback from testers, then further delayed in June due to production issues. Bigscreen says the accessory is now back in production, though it warns that recent demand and shipping delays have left inventory of the Beyond 2 and Beyond 2e "very low." Some orders may still ship the same day, but others could take up to two weeks. The company expects to return to its normal one-to-two-day shipping speed by September 14.
Beyond 2 specs and availability
The Beyond 2 weighs 107 grams and features the same micro-OLED display as its predecessor, with a resolution of 5120×2560, a refresh rate of up to 90Hz, and a field of view of 116 degrees. It is compatible with SteamVR base stations and comes in black, orange, and transparent shell colors. The price reduction is permanent, according to Bigscreen, and applies to all current orders.
